So how do you take a stool sample at home ? HyStool® is a unique stool collection device for use with stool tests such as the bowel cancer screening test or the inflammatory bowel disease calprotectin test. Simply attach one of our collection bags to the toilet. Pass a stool into the bag, collect the required sample and then flush the bag and the contents away.
There is no need to reach inside a potentially contaminated toilet bowl to fit a HyStool® bag. Our stool collection bags are strong, lightweight, very flexible and fit any size of toilet. They are made from PVA which is environmentally friendly and will dissolve in water within minutes. They are safe to flush away.
Simple and hygienic instruction guide to stool sample collection.
Note: Go for a Pee before using this product. HyStool® bags will dissolve on contact with water so urinate before doing the test to reduce the chance of urine contacting the bag.
Step 1

1. Prepare for the Test
Go for a Pee. Before doing the test as water going in the bag will cause it to burst.
Make sure the Toilet Seat is completely dry. The stickers will not stick if the seat is damp.
Step 2

2. Fit the Bag
Fit the bag to the Toilet Seat not the Toilet Bowl.
Attach 2 stickers to rear of seat. Open bag out by pulling it forward then attach the 2 stickers at front.
Leave a gap at the front This is to help any accidental urine discharge avoid the bag. Water in the bag can cause it to burst.

Peel backing paper from Stickers. One by one as you fit the bag.

Step 3

3. Use the Toilet
Put some Toilet Paper in the bottom of the bag then use the toilet as normal.
If a wet / moist stool directly touches the bag then the water content from that stool can eat into the bag and cause it to burst. Paper in the bottom of the bag helps prevent this.
Step 4

4. Collect your Sample
Collect a stool sample from the bag. HyStool bags are only a means of temporarily containing a stool so that you can collect a sample for a medical test.
We do not provide that test.
Step 5

5. Flush the Toilet
Simply peel the stickers from the toilet seat. Allow the HyStool bag and any contents to fall into the toilet water. Then flush away.
HyStool bags are 100% water soluble. They are environmentally friendly and biodegradable.
Step 6

6. After the Test
If the bag does not flush first time … Simply flush again.
If any adhesive residue is left from the stickers on the toilet seat simply wipe off with a damp cloth.
